The Suriname Police Force asks road users traveling from the south to the north to avoid the city center. This in connection with the fire this morning at the Heerenstraat, in which two buildings were completely finished and adjacent buildings suffered scorching and water damage.
“We politely but urgently ask you if you are in the north to choose an alternative route as much as possible other than the one that leads to the waterfront. This also applies to drivers coming from the south,” the police said in Public Relations. a press release.
The police report that, partly due to equipment from the fire brigade from the Marinetrap, the diversion of traffic is necessary over the road to Heerenstraat.
The police urgently appeal to road users as well as employees who work in the city center and in the immediate vicinity to park outside the demarcated area. As a result, people normally have to reach the workplace on foot.
