Anthony Dacres, a chef born in Kingston, Jamaica, has specially chosen Suriname as a destination to introduce us to the flavors of Jamaica. In his native country, Dacres is known as Chef Dacres. He has the ambition to bring a touch of Jamaica to Suriname and share his cooking skills with the Surinamese community.
Dacres derives joy from the fact that people enjoy his delicious dishes. Seeing happy faces as they taste his meals fills him with satisfaction. “Cooking is an adventure; try new things to broaden your horizons,” Dacres emphasizes.
A year ago, Dacres moved to Suriname to immerse himself in our rich culture and diverse cuisine. Although cooking has always been in his blood, he only started cooking seriously at the age of nine. Initially, athletics was his dream, but a traffic accident forced him to give up this ambition. After this dream fell apart, he discovered his passion for cooking.
